WHAT ALL CALIFORNIA GUARDS NEED TO KNOW:
In 2004 Assembly Bill AB 2880 was a landmark bill in California that requires guards to meet the 40 hour training requirements below.
Prior to employment: New guards can get their guard card initially with Power to Arrest & Weapons of Mass Destruction initial 8 hour class.
Additionally: guards need 32 additional hours of training to keep your guard card.
Within 30 days: from the date of the initial class you need : 16 hrs. of mandatory course training.
Within 6 months: from the initial class you need: 16 hrs of elective course training.
Per BSIS all guards need 8 hrs. of CEU training a year.
